Roast chicken for breakfast (nearly)

Another look back just in case

Another look back just in case

Rather frustrating day today.

Came out of the trees near the lake and smelt something tasty. Couldn’t quite pin point the scent so darted back and forth, nose up, until I found my target – a clean white van.

Ignored owner, bounded across the road (not too busy usually as it’s in the park) and found a hungry man sitting in the front seat devouring a whole roast chicken with his hands. The windows were open but he was so covered in grease he couldn’t close them so I jumped up, sure I could get through the window. He had his seat belt on and his hands were too greasy to unbuckle and escape. Wasn’t sure he knew what I wanted so did quietish whine and did my long-tongue-hanging-out face and managed to lick his elbow. Finally owner caught up, leashed me, did the gruff voice routine and led me off. Man seemed distressed I’d interrupted his breakfast.

Skipped, well-behaved, to the top of the hill to earn an unleashing then, quick-smart, doubled back nearly 200 metres and gave van man a real fright. This time he managed to roll the window up so jumped at the door and barked loudly, desperate for a taste. Even a scrap of the paper the chicken was wrapped in would have been enough.

On leash for the rest of the walk which I thought was rather unfair.

Thanks! I think so too – although it’s much better having her running next to me than tugging reluctantly. Consequences, consquences.
