Fog and cross country runners

Ruby in the fog

Ruby in the fog

The air smelt strange and felt wet this morning because of the thick fog. Easy to avoid being spotted and nibbled for ages on some dead possum before being found out and castigated. Possum actually wasn’t that tasty so didn’t even double back for more.

Happily sniffed out strange deposits of breadcrumbs mixed with salt that the cross-country runners use to map their Sunday route and, shrouded in the fog, ate piles of it. Led away mouth frothing and in desperate need of water but raced back twice for more (crossing a proper road the second time).

Owner leashed me and then I vomited all over her boots – the salt mix plus possum plus my breakfast kibble. Felt much better but owner extremely angry. Had to stand at a fork in the path for half an hour directing the runners the right way because I’d eaten the course markings. Cold, wet and hungry on the way home.

Yes, a relatively high maintenance dog outside the home. Inside she sleeps all the time! Mornings are getting colder here so will rug up and keep warm 🙂
