Film crew’s breakfast

Running away with another danish

Running away with another danish

This morning for breakfast (apart from an early munch on kibble) I had:

– 5 danish pastries (selection of apricot, apple, blueberry)

– 3 chocolate croissants

– 2 egg and bacon mini rolls

– 1 apple

– and a partridge in a pear tree (actually we don’t have these in Sydney but if there was a dead partridge I would have eaten it).

A huge film crew was in the park today. Companies are often filming movies and adverts and last year a house was built for the Great Gatsby in the middle of the main off-lease zone. Filming = people = catering so when I spied the huge trailers I smelt an opportunity.

From a long way off me and two friends nonchalantly picked up speed and sprinted over, around the corner and away from our chatting owners. We saw trestle tables weighed down by breakfast but no people anywhere. Working quickly we jumped up and made our way along the table, hoovering up anything we fancied. After my second croissant the caterers appeared and tried to ‘shoo’ us away but we dodged their flailing arms and waving tea towels.

Eventually our owners came racing over, shouted in very gruff voices to ‘get down’ and ‘leave it’. Ever obedient I grabbed another danish before heading into the long grass to finish it while apologies were given on my behalf (but not accepted). Happy days!

With such an inveterate food thief, you must have to watch her weight? Molls is a great pavement snacker and stealer of picnics but we don’t often have the weather for picnics!! And she goes strangely deaf during picnic weather…

Yes we do have to watch her weight because of the supplementary feeding to keep her between 28-30kg. She’s in pretty good shape though because I run with her a few times a week and walk on the other days (8km each time) and she needs/gets an afternoon trot too. It’s been a great autumn with hardly any rain – easy walking weather.

Yes we’re the same with Molls! I’m so proud she’s 27.15kgs (under the 28 ideal) since we changed food. I don’t run (guffaws at the thought) but we walk & she plays a lot with Mum’s puppy.

Running is good for me physically (obviously) but most of all mentally because Ruby pretty much runs next to me the whole time rather than diving off to explore which keeps the stress levels down. There’s a ‘danger zone’ on the run though which is full of dead bat and possum opportunities so I bribe her through this section 🙂
