Muffins at the finish line

Need a drink after all that sugar

Need a drink after all that sugar

It’s nearly ‘winter’ here school cross-country in the park and my sister’s school raced today (although she wasn’t running). Just past the lake girls in her school uniform were pacing along and, thinking she had to be amongst them, I raced over and joined in, jumping up at the girls, licking their legs and getting excited at their squealing.  Couldn’t understand why owner leashed me til they’d disappeared into the woods.

When they’d gone I was free again and sniffed around as usual – on best behaviour of course as still on restricted rations because of the possum incident.

A little later we crossed the small bridge over the culvert, saw the finish line and beyond that a large table weighed down with drinks and muffins. Made a bee line for the food and gobbled everything in reach.  As the girls finished they grabbed a snack so I bounded over to say ‘hello’.  Some told me to get down, some squealed and some just dropped their food on the spot for me to scoff – very kind. Owner terribly embarrassed because she knows most of the PE staff.  Sister will be cross when she hears about my behaviour from her friends tomorrow.

Finally led away, desperate for water and found a deep puddle to quench my thirst.

Tee labradors. You are all so food obsessed, muddy water obsessed and bounding with affection.x

You’re so right – sometimes I think the ‘bounding with affection’ bit is sometime the only redeeming quality though! As the ‘primary carer’ I get the bad bits with the good – the rest of the family only get the good 🙂
