Smoked salmon and capers

Really sorry, couldn't help myself

Really sorry, couldn’t help myself

Glorious day yesterday and after sleeping through most of it headed down to the harbour for a stroll. Lots of smells, picnickers and prams (always a source of food in the basket underneath).

Near the sea wall a large group of smartly dressed guests faced a vicar and a woman holding a baby – a christening party. They were focused on the ceremony but my nose focused on the food laid out on blankets behind them. Nonchalantly sneaked up and wolfed down a platter of smoked salmon and capers (maybe fish is tasty after all!) So delicious I barked at the people for more. Big mistake. They turned around and found me in the middle of the picnic food, sniffing at the other delicacies – lots of shouts of ‘shoo’ and ‘go away’ – all ineffectual of course.

My sister appeared, running with the leash, dispatched a full speed by my owner and the pedant in the kitchen. She was extremely embarrassed and all the guests glared disapprovingly at her. Think I heard the baby crying.

Licked the salt and smoky taste from my lips and lolloped off. Considerate people – leaving plates of food on the ground in the middle of an off-leash area.

    No guilt!

Yes a not guilty plea from Ruby although I know she knows when she’s done something wrong. She just doesn’t know what the ‘wrong’ thing is!

That was so very nice of them to leave all of that delicous food out there just for you.

Yes – it’s a health hazard! Not sure I’d ever picnic in an off-leash park but obviously some people do…
