The morning after the day before

I love Mondays

I love Mondays

After weekend picnickers, the park on a Monday morning is heaven. Not sure why they don’t pick their rubbish and walk 20 metres to the nearest bin but it means rich pickings for me.

The list is long today and my owner is still tearing her hair out. ย This morning in 1 1/2 hours

I ate (in this order):

  • Half a roast chicken carcass (discarded on the ground right near our car – so a good start to the walk)
  • Small pieces of potato chips (sprinkled on a picnic table)
  • Three chocolate wrappers (where a kid’s birthday party had been)
  • Feather from a blowy thing (ditto)
  • Left over KFC chips and chicken wings (ran out of the park, across a road and found these in the gutter 100m away)
  • Two bread rolls under a picnic table
  • Thai noodles from a discarded takeaway container
  • Four discarded paper napkins (smeared with food)
  • Several pieces of fresh and dried horse poo
  • Vegemite sandwich (stolen from the hand of a small child)
  • Uncooked lamb kebabs and wooden skewers (sticking out of the top of an overflowing bin)
  • Lots of grass
  • Half a stick

And all before 9am. ย What a great start to the week!

Nothing better than an all you can eat smorgasbord!

That sounds like Ruby-doggy-heaven but stealing sandwiches from the hand of a small child… You got to think of your poor human who may be screamed at by the small child’s parents sometimes Ruby. We get screamed at sometimes for doing less than that or nothing at all! But glad the start of your week is a good one. ๐Ÿ˜›

Where does she put it all???? : )))

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jun 17 2013 11:26 am

She is a genetically modified dog with three stomachs and a brain that doesn’t connect to them.

Oh dear! I would have done the same as the owner. Do you still have any hair left? LOL!
I hate it when we go for walks at the dam and there are scraps like that lying around because that means I have to pick it up before Simba does. But as long as Ruby had lots of fun, who cares? hehehehehe

Some hair still intact you’ll be happy to know!

      • Sonel / Jun 17 2013 6:00 pm

Very happy to hear that… LOL!
Please give Ruby big hugs from me and Simba. ๐Ÿ˜€

    Ruby is insatiable.

Oh my. You must never need to feed her. I have instructed my husband to read this blog so everytime Molls gets scared of the wind or has a little nibble at her poo (yuck yuck yuck – hopefully Ruby does not have coprophagic tendencies) that he realises she is an absolute walk in the park compared to some other Labs!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jun 17 2013 9:45 pm

      Fancy a swap??

      • mollieandclaire / Jun 17 2013 9:53 pm

Well, I don’t think she’d be half as well fed if she lived here! We don’t have the weather for outdoor eating that often. Actually, I have just remembered that Mollie was responsible for my sisters most embarrassing episode ever – she had taken her for a walk in the park, let her off the lead and Molls made a beeline for a family’s picnic, snaffled some of it and went distressingly deaf to my sisters calls. So there is a connection with Ruby – and probably if she lived where you do would be as bad – it just the tendencies haven’t had the chance to emerge as much!

So maybe I should stick with Ruby then. At least she is consistent and entirely predictable. I don’t think she’s badly behaved as such (apart from stealing food from small children) but loves living in the moment and acting instinctively. She’s three in August. Maybe she’ll ‘settle’???

      • mollieandclaire / Jun 18 2013 3:03 am

Oops that went too early! I don’t think she’s badly behaved. Just like all labs, utterly deaf when food is involved!

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Jun 18 2013 11:37 am

        Sorry – didn’t hear that!

Way to go Ruby! You make me look innocent. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sounds like you cleaned up! In more ways than one.

Just love Mondays in the park as there are is so much discarded, un-rubbish binned food.
