Blue bottle alert

20130705-205503.jpg
Thousands of small blue bottle jellyfish washed up on the high tide yesterday afternoon. Even half dead their long trailing stingers can cause a nasty rash and excruciating pain so we walked on top on the dunes rather than on the beach.
At the end of our walk came across a kelpie with front paw stings and he was crying in pain and a long way from home. We gave him a lift to the town vet and I administered licks to cheer him up.
Later on his owner came round with a thank you present – cake for owner and raw chicken wings for me. Never had these before – just delicious!

I’ve never seen one of those before but I know now to stay away!

You and your owner were so sweet to help another animal out in a bind… I bet you guys did enjoy your thank you treats!

I liked your post because you were so lovely to the Kelpie’s owner. I don’t like what happened obviously…

It really was a no brainer. Only other time I’ve heard a dog that distressed was years ago in London when a dog got caught on an escalator in the tube. I had my car close so we whizzed off!

You are a real Good Samaritan for lending a helping paw and administering tlc. By the way… I like my chicken wings attached to the rest of the bird πŸ˜‰

Nasty blue bottle stings by the sound of it. I beat your kind licks helped too.
How had you not had chicken wings before Ruby???

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 6 2013 8:48 pm

No chicken wings because everyone else in the family is vegetarian…I do get a marrow bone each week though:)

        Hmmm that sounds yummy too.
Sounds like it has been a busy holiday Ruby. How are the paws after the spiky plant incident the other day?

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 6 2013 8:58 pm

Paws fine now. Amazing, the healing power of the sea. Actually am feeling superfit after a week of soft sand running.

Such beautiful sea creatures but so dangerous indeed. You are both such sweethearts for taking care of the Kelpie and it sure was nice of the owner to bring you those yummies! I bet you had a piece of cake as well for dessert. πŸ˜€

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 6 2013 8:50 pm

No, didn’t have any cake. An watching my weight after a surfeit of fish and dead seagull the day before πŸ™‚

      • Sonel / Jul 6 2013 8:51 pm

Oh dear! LOL! I completely understand. πŸ˜€

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 6 2013 8:59 pm

Thank you. Hard to manage the yoyo diet of a hungry Labrador sometimes.

      • Sonel / Jul 6 2013 9:04 pm

hehehe, I bet. With winter this side it seems Simba is like a hibernating bear, except he does sleep but he wakes up and then asks for his treats and when his dad comes home from work he pretends as if he had “nothing to eat” for the day. LOL!

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 6 2013 9:09 pm

Sweet! Can just imagine him all snuggled up.

A good deed that got a reward – nice switch to hear about. Good going, Ruby!
