Up to my old tricks

Where does the lake start?

Left strict instructions with a couple of dog friends to keep the park clean of dead animals in my absence but they didn’t do a very good job.  In fact, I think there were more bodies lying around today than ever.  This meant I snaffled:

  • The innards of something large and disgusting
  • A bat wing
  • Part of a possum tail
  • Section of an ibis wing
  • A rather damp soggy bacon roll

Great pickings for me although owner completely frustrated I had reverted to type after the lovely week away.  Lakes still overflowing from all the rain so was able to source a couple of bloated fish too.  Fortunately owner had long wellies on so could catch me before I ran off with them – such a spoil sport!

Welcome back! We missed you. Glad you are hereto clean up for us again. Sounds like you had a great time away. The beach photos inspired my owner to take me on a drive to a dog beach. It was unreal, running up and down sand dunes, over rocks and in and out of the water. Hope she takes me back there. Hope to see you soon. Rosie

Lots of fun for frollicking Ruby but grinding of teeth for mum!

Its the stink!!! hahahah drives you batty 🙂

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 9 2013 11:51 am

Yes quite maddening although I did lots of deep breathing and, being in holiday mode still, kept fairly calm…

      • fozziemum / Jul 9 2013 11:53 am

It will help..sort of…for a small amount of time hahaha…dogs and smells…far out!

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 9 2013 12:00 pm

yes – maybe will need something stronger – or keep her on a long leash while she eases back into the smells of the park again…

Its in the blood..Forrest has the most amazing sense of smell, hearing and sight ..he lets us know when the roos or rabbits are around way before we have a clue…he would have made an excellent dog for border security!! 🙂

LOL sounds like you are going to be busy tidying up for a bit.

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 9 2013 11:50 am

Yes indeed – another shampoo today but Ruby is now fast, fast asleep. Have the park ranger on speed dial and he comes to shovel away the dead creatures if she leaves them – so he actually had a break from us too!

welcome back from sandy beach to dead animal waste land! Looks like the ranger missed Ruby’s sharp nose for picky up those stinky scents!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 9 2013 4:54 pm

yes – hopeless. Maybe should could work as a park ranger herself and track down the dead animals AND get paid!!

Ruby, you never fail to delight. Hopefully you only sniffed, you did not roll in bloated dead creatures. Fun stuff as always………

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Jul 9 2013 4:56 pm

Oh no – rolling is compulsory. I see her feet in the air from a way off, race over to see what’s she found and either a) extract it from her mouth if I’m quick b) bag it in a poo bag if it fits c) call ranger and stand over it if it’s big and finally d) watch in horror as she runs off and consumes it. A range of possibilities 🙂

LOL Charlie! Why must you be such a spoil sport! hehhehe. Looks like Ruby missed home and had to make up for all the fun she missed. 😀

Well Ruby, you know what they say-you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself! A wonderful picture of you at work 😉
