We’re not in Rome anymore Ruby

IMG_1908 2

Pottered a mere five minutes from our house to find Roman ruins. Well not actually, because Romans never made it to Australia. The website says they are ‘hailed as a blend of the ancient Baths of Caracalla in Rome and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon’. I’m so not sure but there is a cool looking pond over there I need to go and have a dip in.

Yes – it’s a public space renovated from the old water storage tanks for Sydney. It’s below the surface of the street and there are deckchairs you can sit in and enjoy the oasis in the middle of traffic πŸ™‚

It Is an ancient bath? I would run away. maybe they have a roman circus there too?

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Aug 25 2013 11:02 am

Yes maybe the water is contaminated or their are gladiators with big swords there…

You don’t look impressed Ruby! I suppose when reading the blurb about such places it is a case of “Canum Cave” – little Latin pun there.

What a great shot Charlie. πŸ™‚ Ruby, you would have looked good as a Roman furry kid for sure and I would enjoy a dip in those baths as well. πŸ˜€ *hugs*

Strange architecture though. In Australia we revere anything 19th century so these have been expertly and expensively restored. hopefully a nice summer paddingly spot on my afternoon walk…

Looks like there’s quite a few spaces to explore and hide in there πŸ˜› but guess you are too busy in the pool πŸ˜€

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Aug 26 2013 3:18 pm

it’s an interesting urban space and more and more people are using it. think it will be a nice shady spot in the summer with of course the added bonus of cleanish water πŸ™‚

Around the corner from where a friend used to live… From memory some really nice cafes close by too… Handy for a snack after the history lesson.
Practice your best ‘I am a malnourished dog whose owner really doesn’t feed me much’ look while you check out those historical thingys…

Thanks for the tip – always think the ‘feed me’ face is a great one for the repertoire πŸ™‚
