Ball, what ball?

IMG_2100

Bush fires are raging already and was 30 degrees yesterday. Time for a harbour swim and ball retreiving. Was heavily distracted by ducks though and swam after them, heading for New Zealand again.  Fifteen long minutes later I got back to the sand, no duck, no ball and thoroughly exhausted!

I will try – much cooler today. I’m not sure I’ve tasted duck before but I bet it’s pretty scrummy:)

At least Ruby turned back on her own, our two bird brains almost didn’t turn back. It was a bit unnerving yelling at them knowing they were fixated on the geese. Mitch thought he was going to have to go in after them.

This one gave us a laugh Ruby…. When I do that mum stands on the shore and with her best Patrick Swayze voice (ie bad) goes ‘I’m not going swim to New Zealand’… She has watched Point Break WAY too many times.

Wow Ruby! You sure can swim! I would go for the ducks too, they’re much more interesting than balls :p

Yes I love water best of all but wasn’t fast enough to catch the ducks but just kept on swimming!

If it was that hot I wouldn’t have swam either, simply paddled about and cooled off. Perhaps we have it wrong, clever Ruby.

Gorgeous photo and not at all surprised that the ball was ignored for live ducks

Sorry you lost the ball! Hope your good swim made it worth it though. Keep cool, Ruby! Much love, The Scottie Mom.

Thanks – another unretrieved ball…I’m getting slower on my walks because of the heat. Mum think we might have to go out even earlier! roll on daylight savings I say:)
