Jet lag

IMG_2115

Went to meet my human grandparents today. Their flight got in at 5:11am so was woken up far too early and felt grumpy all morning. Granny minded me later on but she fell asleep on the sofa so I slunk into the kitchen and ate their lovingly baked and iced welcome chocolate cake. ย Owner vvv cross with her mum for not watching me properly and for me for scoffing the cake. ย Ignored the ranting and fell asleep belly full, legs up the wall. Six weeks of this will be great – I think…

ooohhh, cheeky doggy! After all that cake a nap is totally in order ๐Ÿ™‚

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 14 2013 4:26 pm

Yes I think so – lots of hard work eating through a nice warm, beautifully iced cake and leaving absolutely no trace at all!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 14 2013 4:26 pm

Ha ha – Ruby has never tried that – or to open cupboard doors thank goodness!

  2. suzie81 / Sep 14 2013 4:13 pm

I used to own a beagle that could open the fridge – she ate her fair share of cake too!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 15 2013 6:12 pm

Clever beagle. Ours is an upside down built in fridge which I’m sure she couldn’t open. But then never say never…

      • suzie81 / Sep 16 2013 1:46 am

Absolutely… Will we see a photo of the guilty face if she does?

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 16 2013 7:23 pm

        Of course!

Whahahahahah! Oh, you are just the best Ruby! That cake sounds like it was delicious! You lucky girl! It makes up for being woken up so early hey? I hope that will teach the humans a lesson…LOL!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 14 2013 4:53 pm

Yes – I hope so but I suspect that if I’m vigilant there will be more treats to be had. Watch this space!

      • Sonel / Sep 14 2013 4:54 pm

LOL! I’m watching! Just wish Ruby could have shared that cake with me. heheheheh

Ahh, they got to see the real ruby on day 1. Well done ; )).

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 14 2013 8:29 pm

Yes – was awful – 3 hours of careful baking by the pedant in the kitchen all gone in the blink of an eye. Parents need to be better trained obviously!

  5. weliveinaflat / Sep 14 2013 6:43 pm

Ruby always has the upper hand when it comes to home-baked goods. Lucky girl ๐Ÿ˜€

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 14 2013 8:28 pm

Yes sad to say I can’t rely on my parents to be on the ball. They don’t know her as well as we do – they only met her when she was 6 months old and still a forgiveable pup!

Thanks – she is sweet but also a food obsessed eating machine who at three years old should know better!

  7. saucygander / Sep 14 2013 8:59 pm

Must have a nice cake, Ruby? ๐Ÿ˜€

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 15 2013 6:12 pm

Yes – always and chocolate is the best even though it’s bad for dogs (apparently):)

  8. 1st World Dog / Sep 14 2013 9:20 pm

They will learn Ruby… But take every advantage until they do.

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 15 2013 6:13 pm

yes – feel the first few days are crucial and must use them to my absolute advantage!

  9. littledogslaughed / Sep 14 2013 11:38 pm

That is one contented looking dog-completely oblivious to the world and no doubt dreaming of her next meal-

  10. Emily @ Adventures of a Dog Mom / Sep 14 2013 11:42 pm

That cake sure sounded good… even though doggies shouldn’t have chocolate I don’t blame you for giving it a try!

  11. Elsa Primal Pooch / Sep 14 2013 11:48 pm

If there was no evidence then they can’t prove that it was you who ate the cake. I put it to you M’Lord that it was the human grandparents who scoffed the lot, washed up and then blamed Ruby ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 15 2013 6:14 pm

Ha ha never thought of that – good point. well I haven’t said anything so will have to work out how to prove my case! will you represent me next time?

  12. Kuruk / Sep 15 2013 2:45 am

Oh Ruby chocolate is poisonous for pups! Please ask your Mama to keep it in the fridge or something next time. We do not want to read a Ruby is sicky post! Wuvyooowoowooooo!

  13. fozziemum / Sep 15 2013 11:09 am

Oh dear Ruby….mum might need a motion activated sensor in the kitchen! mind you the grandies should never sleep on the job!! Hugs Fozziemum xx

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 15 2013 6:15 pm

No hopeless – just because they hadn’t slept for 24 hours doesn’t mean they can kip on the job. Still they dropped off again today but there were slim pickings…

  14. ramblingratz / Sep 15 2013 11:49 am

    You little tinker, slobber chops.

  15. likeitiz / Sep 15 2013 12:15 pm

So you also sleep with your legs pointing up, huh? We know when Beau is relaxed and sound asleep. He’s in that position too. Luke used to lie sideways, snore, or move his legs and bark in his sleep, like he’s running after something.

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 15 2013 6:10 pm

They’re funnt things aren’t they? Ruby often sleep or just lies like this – legs in the air. Can’t be comfortable can it?

  16. lovinghomemade / Sep 17 2013 12:09 am

I can’t imagine how annoying that must have been!!!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 17 2013 9:44 am

I think ‘annoying’ is putting it mildly!! of course most of the blame was apportioned on the babysitter:)

  17. 2browndawgs / Sep 17 2013 11:07 am

LOL Ruby sounds like you might gain weight during their visit!

  18. Laura Donald / Sep 17 2013 9:38 pm

As strange as it looks, this must be a comfy sleeping position Ruby, because our Molly does exactly the same thing every night up against the couch! Must be a lab thing! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 17 2013 9:48 pm

Yes it’s strange isn’t it. Maybe they have flat backs or maybe their full bellies feel more comfortable in the air:)
