Going grey

IMG_1898

My human grandparents have totally white hair and commented that I’m going grey – prematurely! Surely not, you say but I have loads of grey on my belly, around my muzzle and a few like this white one between my eye and my ear. I’m only three – what is happening to me??

Well Ruby, Moo has a little grey patch above her left eye, and she’s had it since she was about two… so you’re in good company… and you look rather adorable with your grey! 😀

You are not a lone Ruby… Donna has this two white hair in the middle of her face… and lots of other white hairs peppering her black coat… grey around the muzzle too… poor thing… 😛

Sure they are not blonde streaks Ruby?

Oh well sounds like Fozzie is just the man for me – cool and distinguished!

Indeed Ruby and a cake thief and snorer! quite the catch 😉

Well, at least it’s on your temple so will make you look very distinguished. Are you sure it’s grey and not white? Maybe you are a descendant of the great Banchory Bolo. He was a famous black labrador who had a very sad start in life and was, erm, a bit of a handful to say the least (you can read about him at http://www.lorkenfarms.com/banchory_bolo.htm) but when shown love and kindness became a joint field and show champion. He had white pads on his paws.

Interesting – yes you’re right they are white and she has about 10 of them in various spots. Nothing on the pads though like Bolo – what a story!

Boomer and Dottie both have grey fur and I’ve got some grey hair coming in but you know what I say about all that? We earned those suckers!

Mama says it means you are growing wise! Wooooowooooooo!

Time to act your age, not your bowl size?

Nemo is also three and has started showing a few strands of grey as well. At such a ripe old age, I dare say! His poor muzzle and moustache are speckled now. Of course, on gentlemen, they say it adds an air of distinction, right?

Embrace the grey Ruby. Happens to the best of them. Storm has a lot of grey and she is only 6. I think she was 3 when we noticed it starting.

OK then will think of myself as distinguished looking not an old lady before my time:)

That’s not grey Ruby…it’s highlights. Pffftt! Tell the humans they should open their eyes. 😆

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 17 2013 3:27 pm

Yes – highlights – you’re right (elegant grey with a touch of silver):)

      • Sonel / Sep 17 2013 3:44 pm

        Absolutely! 😆

Ha, I have a white coat – you can’t see the grey hairs!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 19 2013 6:21 am

Ha – I have a black coat you can’t see the mud!!

      • Clowie / Sep 19 2013 5:00 pm

True – you can see it clearly on me!
Here’s another one for you – they can see me in the dark, but not you. I’m hard to see in the snow though!

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Sep 19 2013 8:42 pm

Ha ha – never been in snow but I guess I would completely stand out!!

Naw, Ruby. I thought dogs weren’t as vain as us humans? Well, if it helps, I like grey hairs. They add character! You’re gorgeous, whatever colour you are! x
