Hidden treasure

IMG_2693

In the middle of the forest were these old gnarly gums. Underneath the old gnarly gums were some small spiky twigs. Underneath the small spiky twigs was a pile of brittle leaves and underneath those there was a dead possum. Trouble was I got stuck in the leaves, under the twigs, under the gums and had to be rescued with the bounty in my mouth. Needless to say I was leashed for the rest of the walk.

Ruby does love dead possums. Yuck!

Didn’t the gas and sad face from the other possum day before teach you anything Ruby?

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Oct 30 2013 7:28 pm

Nope – I have a very short memory for some things but long for others. Or is it similar to selective hearing?

    Ruby, another possum? πŸ˜€

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Oct 30 2013 7:30 pm

I know. They are just too hard to resist and it’s that time of year when they start to come out and it’s either too hot or too rainy for them and they flop like flies. Lucky me:)

    You’re very good Ruby!

Ruby, a dead possum is worth every effort, I think :o)

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Oct 31 2013 8:54 pm

Yes – should have made a bit more of an effort. It was the backwards double twist move out – I got my collar caught on the twigs and they slowed me down.

Possum? UGH! Although, given the chance, my 3 would love to bring me one as a “gift”.

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Oct 31 2013 8:55 pm

No! – possums are lovely smelly things, especially when they’ve been marinading in mud for a few weeks…

My dogs are quite jealous. They love a good roll in possum!

Ha – Ruby rolls in everything and anything. They are funny things aren’t they?

I love your written voice πŸ™‚

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Oct 31 2013 8:56 pm

Thank you – it is quite like my spoken voice although I’m obviously trying to sound like Ruby. I like the discipline of writing short pieces every day.

      • Paula / Oct 31 2013 9:02 pm

Does it help you in some way to write on a daily basis? I like the short form πŸ™‚ Very often I have to skip some bloggers’ writings cause I can’t afford enough time, and then again we all have different tastes and affinities – I like short and interesting (and if it is funny like in your case – even better :D)

      • rubytheblacklabrador / Oct 31 2013 9:10 pm

Yes I think daily practice is good – keeps a focus and you get the voice and a way of trying to use a few words to say something interesting. Plus there is always something going on with Ruby!

Oh dear you poor pup, sorry you had to be leashed for the rest of your walk. You must have felt so restricted.

Yes – just terrible. Still managed to grab a few bits of possum poo though. So not too bad!
