The sock stealer

Love all things stinky, especially socks. My preference is for well used sports socks, preferably those left on the floor to fester for a few days so they are nice and crusty. Don’t eat them, just carry them around proudly just like my soft toys. Have quite a collection going at the bottom of the garden next to the compost bin.

Socks were my favourite thing when I was a pup. Still steal the odd one now and again although much prefer toddlers little frog toy now.

toddler toys probably smell more foody too:)

It is just this particular frog (and a seal that is a similar size)… everything else I can’t be bothered with.

interesting – a small toy fixation then?

      • 1st World Dog / Nov 26 2013 1:00 pm

It seems to be. They are easier to carry around.

hehehehe I used to like daddy’s socks when I was little 🙂

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Nov 26 2013 7:54 am

they’re fun aren’t they? I can fit about five in my mouth without swallowing them:)

Friday we bought Mitch a new pair of insulated elk skin gloves for work, went to my son’s for dinner and came home to only find the linings left. Orso is in deep trouble for that. He stole them off of the dresser. Of course Mitch should have put them in the closet, but didn’t so that was $40 down the drain.

    Gotta love them.

Me too, Ruby. Stinky socks are like drugs… and I’m a junkie :o)

What a gorgeous sock-stealer indeed! Simba loves old socks as well. I tie them together and then we see who can pull the hardest. Simba usually wins. LOL!

We put a tennis ball in the end of an old football sock and tie it in and use it as a throw toy – in case she can be bothered to fetch it:)

I used to do that too with my little man when he was younger and could run. Now we only walk. LOL!

Ha ageing is a funny process;)

hahahah, you don’t have to tell us that. LOL!

Please don’t eat them! You’ll have to go to the vet and ingest hydrogen peroxide! Just enough to make you throw it up! ….That’s what happened to Hesster when he was a puppy. And he could be your brother Ruby….you look very similar!

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Nov 26 2013 7:58 am

Ha – no chance of eating them just like sucking them and hiding them away in piles!

  9. Emily @ Adventures of a Dog Mom / Nov 26 2013 2:18 am

Ick! Whatever you do don’t eat it, I’ve seen far too many “foreign body” surgeries due to stinky socks!

  10. Laura Donald / Nov 26 2013 6:35 am

At least you’re good and don’t eat them Ruby! Can’t say the same for our Ailsa… I only have one sock remaining from my most favourite pair now, which is of course useless 😦

    • rubytheblacklabrador / Nov 26 2013 7:59 am

Golly – yes I like to chew them but not eat them. With my stuffed toys I always spit out the stuffing afterI’ve attacked them:)

I don’t do socks myself, but we had a previous dog living here who had quite a penchant for them. He was like you and never ate them, just liked to carry them around and sleep with them.

  12. 2browndawgs / Nov 26 2013 8:47 pm

LOL I think Freighter would eat them. He would probably like your collection. 🙂

  13. littledogslaughed / Nov 27 2013 1:30 am

Sounds like you putting socks aways for a rainy day-you can never have too many!

  14. EdenOrchards / Dec 7 2013 8:49 am

I’ve given up and stick to sandals, with four dogs I can’t ever keep any socks 🙂 It is worth the sacrifice for a doggie face like Ruby, I bet. What a beauty

  15. thehungrymum / Aug 11 2014 7:22 pm

But socks are fun & chewy & there’s plenty of ’em in the laundry basket 🙂
